Harmattan season is here again. I know many people don't really fancy this period because of some health challenges associated with it but what can we do? Well, I think All we can do is thank God we are alive to witness another of its kind again.
The Harmattan season is expected to last from this month (Novemeber) to February or even till March next year. Some of the common challenges of the season we hate so much are: wrinkle skin, broken skin, cracked feets, cracked lips, dandruffs and some health challenges like: catarh, coughs, itchy throat etc. Oh, let me not forget to add the extreme sweet cold that keeps you glued to your bed every morning, the dusty wind blowing everywhere; the wind comes cold sometimes and hot at another time. What a 'beautiful' weather!
Ok, now let's see how we can stay cool and healthy through the season.
1. Avoid excess caffeinated drink: moisture is required to stay cool during this dry season and since Caffeinated drinks have the ability of dyhdrating the skin, it'll be very wise to take a break from its consumption this season or take less. Example of drinks that contain caffein are : Ice cream, tea, Chocolate, coffe and most soft drinks.
So, let's take more of non caffeinated drink this season. Take a lot of water to keep you hydrated.
2. Avoid patronising all kind of food hawkers this season. Due to unhealthy dust flying all over the places, it'll be very easy for food borne diseases to be transmitted. So, let's be very careful with the kind of things and from where we buy our things this season.
3. Thoroughly wash fruits bought from the open markets (places) before consumption. Fruits like apples, Guava, carrots, cocumber etc should be washed very well before eating them. Your vegetables are not left out too. They should be washed properly to prevent food bone diseases.
4. Make use of vasseline (petroleum jelly) and Shea butter! I bet these things come in handy this season.
Trust me, the above can keep you looking good and cool this harmattan.
I will try and give us formula to make our own jelly and shea butter cream at home. The product will help avoid crack lips, foots, dry skin etc.
